This technical report details a reference architecture for deploying YugabyteDB on Tanzu Kubernetes Grid (TKG). It outlines the Kubernetes requirements and cluster layout necessary for YugabyteDB, providing a pathway to create a highly available, production-grade deployment. The document discusses various cluster topologies based on workload availability and redundancy needs, ranging from a single cluster in one availability zone to multiple clusters across various regions and cloud providers. It includes a bill of materials listing the required software versions and components, as well as design use-cases that rationalize deployment decisions. Additionally, the report covers backup and recovery options, monitoring solutions, and logging practices for YugabyteDB deployments. The architecture is validated using specific versions of Tanzu and YugabyteDB solutions, ensuring compatibility and performance for different deployment scenarios.
