This case study details the collaboration between Pac-12 Networks and Zayo to centralize production capabilities for live sports broadcasts. Pac-12 Networks, a digital media network for the Pac-12 collegiate conference, faced challenges in reducing production costs while maintaining high-quality broadcasts. The study outlines the shift from traditional on-site production to a remote production model, which required reliable, high-bandwidth connectivity. Zayo's Dedicated Internet Access, Wavelengths, and Dark Fiber solutions were implemented to support this transition. The case study highlights the significant cost savings achieved through remote production, with automation increasing scheduling efficiency. It also discusses the challenges of establishing connectivity to various sports venues and the importance of collaboration with campus IT staff.
