This case study details the upgrade of Public Address and Voice Alarm (PAVA) systems for Transport for London (TfL) across the Jubilee Line Extension (JLE). Telent was contracted to deliver pre-built, configured, and factory acceptance tested PAVA systems, ensuring functionalities such as emergency broadcasts and live paging. The upgrade aimed for a minimum operational life of 10-15 years while minimizing capital expenditure by retaining existing infrastructure components. Zenitel's VIPEDIA technology was selected for its ability to meet project demands, providing robust and compact solutions. The project involved significant customization and value engineering to integrate new systems with legacy components. Key products included the V2000 amplifier mainframe and IP-enabled SAP03 announcement points. The collaboration between Telent and Zenitel resulted in improved sound quality and a 50% reduction in power consumption, showcasing their commitment to enhancing railway infrastructure and services. The successful installation demonstrates the effectiveness of tailored PAVA solutions in transforming the rail industry.
