This case study details the implementation of an onsite EEG program at Huntsville Memorial Hospital (HMH) aimed at reducing patient transfers and enhancing local care. Prior to the program, patients requiring EEG services had to be transferred to distant facilities, which posed significant challenges for families in rural Texas. The hospital's leadership identified that nearly half of their neuro-related transfers were due to the lack of onsite EEG capabilities. In response, a task force was formed to reinstate EEG services, selecting the Zeto ONE system for its ease of use and comprehensive diagnostic capabilities. The rollout included comprehensive staff training and clear communication strategies to ensure successful implementation. Since the program's launch in December 2024, HMH has seen a significant increase in local admissions that would have previously required transfers. Additionally, an outpatient EEG service was established to facilitate quicker access to diagnostic data for referring physicians, further addressing systemic access issues in rural healthcare. The initiative represents a strategic move to improve local neurological care.
