This case study details the financial transactions facilitated by Ziegler Investment Banking for Plato Academy Charter Schools, a network of nine K-8 public charter schools in the Tampa metro area. Founded in 2004, Plato Academy serves approximately 3,800 students and emphasizes the Socratic method, particularly in language and mathematics. Ziegler acted as the placement agent for a $31.7 million Series 2022 Taxable Educational Facilities Revenue Loan, which was used to refinance existing bank notes and fund the purchase of a new campus. Following this, Ziegler structured a $67.205 million Series 2024 bond issue to further support the school's expansion and refinancing efforts. The proceeds from this bond issue were allocated to refinance the Series 2022 revenue note and finance the acquisition and renovation of additional campuses. This strategic financing not only consolidates ownership interests but also enhances the financial stability and operational efficiency of Plato Academy, positioning it for sustained growth.
