Index of Education Quality Framework Overview

This document is a technical report that outlines the Index of Education Quality (IEQ) framework introduced by Cognia to measure institutional performance. The IEQ provides a holistic assessment of an institution's effectiveness based on a comprehensive set of standards and evaluative criteria. It combines ratings from Cognia Performance Standards, student performance analysis, stakeholder feedback diagnostics, and learning environment observations. The IEQ score is critical for determining accreditation status, which has been modernized to reflect a more nuanced view of institutional performance. Institutions are categorized into four accreditation statuses based on their IEQ results, moving beyond traditional binary classifications. The report details the four key characteristics of high-quality educational institutions: Culture of Learning, Leadership for Learning, Engagement of Learning, and Growth in Learning. It emphasizes the importance of continuous improvement and how the IEQ serves as an internal benchmark for institutions to optimize teaching and learning.
