Security Information and Event Management Implementation for Banks

This document is a case study detailing a project completed by Consist Software Solutions GmbH involving the implementation of a central security information and event management (SIEM) system for a bank. The project aimed to enhance the security of banking operations by integrating and monitoring over 40 heterogeneous security systems, including SAP, while ensuring compliance with security requirements from the European Central Bank (ECB) and BaFin. The project involved various phases, including consulting, implementation, and transitioning to managed services. The SIEM system was designed to provide real-time notifications and secure versioning of user processes, particularly for privileged users. The project was completed on time and within budget, showcasing the expertise of Consist specialists in Big Data and security solutions. The case study outlines the challenges faced, including the need for a non-manipulable system and the integration of specialized banking applications, and highlights the benefits of risk minimization and compliance achieved through the project.
