Texas Department of Transportation Traffic Management Case Study

This case study details the collaboration between the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and Skyline Technology Solutions, utilizing SolarWinds products to enhance traffic management in Dallas. Initially, TxDOT faced challenges with nearly 4,000 Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) devices, lacking effective monitoring and visibility. The pilot program implemented in Dallas aimed to improve network visibility, performance, and security. Through a custom integration with SolarWinds, TxDOT transitioned from reactive to proactive management, gaining insights into device performance and network issues. The success of the Dallas pilot led to the expansion of monitoring capabilities across additional TxDOT districts, including the Business Network. The implementation of SolarWinds allowed for centralized monitoring, improved configuration management, and enhanced operational efficiency. The case study outlines the objectives, processes, and outcomes of the initiative, highlighting the significant improvements in traffic management and network performance achieved through this partnership.
