Digital Product Passport System Architecture Proposal

This document is a technical report that proposes a Digital Product Passport (DPP) system architecture compliant with the Eco-design for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR). It is intended for designers and developers of DPP systems and the European Commission. The architecture outlines the building blocks of a DPP system, detailing the relationships between these components and the roles typically associated with each block. The report also identifies commonly used standards relevant to these building blocks. Additionally, it provides recommendations for aspects of the DPP system that would benefit from ecosystem-level collaborations and agreements. Key technical risks associated with implementing the DPP system are described, along with suggested mitigations to address these risks. The document serves as a foundational tool for the CIRPASS-2 project, aiming to facilitate the development and specification of programming interfaces and software components necessary for a functional DPP system.
