Universal Engraving, established in 1982 and based in the United States, operates within the manufacturing sector, specifically focusing on watches and jewelry, business supplies, and media printing. The company employs between 51 and 200 individuals and reported revenue of approximately $12.7 million. Universal Engraving is involved in the production of materials that incorporate transfer metallic decoration, which has implications for sustainability and recycling within the print decorating industry. A recent study commissioned by the Foil & Specialty Effects Association and conducted by the Van Dyk Technology Center examined the recyclability of fiber-based materials with transfer metallic decoration. The findings indicated that these materials can be effectively recycled by Materials Recovery Facilities (MRFs) across North America, addressing misconceptions regarding their sustainability. The research aims to provide data that supports resource-efficient recycling practices for products featuring metallic decoration, thereby contributing to a more sustainable approach in the manufacturing and printing sectors.
