This document is a case study detailing the management of a Linux server environment for a large retail apparel chain operating over 1,500 stores in the U.S. and Canada. The client faced significant challenges as their infrastructure scaled, including security vulnerabilities, performance bottlenecks, limited monitoring, backup inconsistencies, and time-consuming manual tasks. To address these issues, the client partnered with XTIVIA to implement a structured Linux Systems Administration solution. The technical solution focused on six key areas: strengthening security and system hardening, performance optimization and monitoring, backup and disaster recovery implementation, controlled user access and permissions, automating routine tasks, and ensuring high availability. Each area included specific actions taken to enhance security, improve performance, and automate processes. The results included reduced security risks, optimized system performance, improved uptime, automated IT tasks, and a robust backup system, ultimately leading to a stable and scalable Linux environment for the client.
